Flight: Planes, Birds and Bubbles
Donna Colvin Grades 1-6
Planes, Birds and Bubbles- let your imagination take flight. Learn about the science of air and flight (natural
and mechanical) and the biology of birds. We will play games, fly: paper airplanes, parachutes, kites and
rockets and blow bubbles, create wings with cardboard and feathers and more. Students will draw their favorite bird, then create a sculpture of that bird. There is more to planes, birds and bubbles than flying. Think about what you already know about flight and what you want to learn. You will need your imagination and ideas to design your own airplane, creative bird and shaped bubbles. Bring cardboard tubes all sizes, clean milk jugs (gallon and half gallon) to help with our experiments. Students should bring: a snack and water bottle. Students should wear: sunscreen, comfortable old clothes and sneakers. M-F 9am-12pm
