Unleash your inner artist with the vibrant and versatile medium of acrylic paint! This course is perfect for adults who want to discover the joy of painting or build upon existing skills. Acrylics are an excellent choice for beginners due to their fast-drying time and ease of use, allowing for quick layering and experimentation. In this class, we will cover the fundamental techniques of acrylic painting while exploring a range of subjects, from still life to landscapes and abstract compositions.
You will learn how to:
Understand your Materials: get to know the different types of acrylic paints, mediums, as well as brushes and surfaces; Master Color Mixing: learn to create a vast spectrum of colors from a limited palette, and understand concepts like hue, value, and saturation; Apply Foundational Techniques: practice a variety of brushstrokes, learn to create smooth blends, and experiment with impasto (thick paint) techniques for texture; Explore Composition and Design: learn how to arrange elements within your painting to create balance, movement and visual interest;
Use Acrylic Mediums: discover how to use gels, pastes, and other mediums to alter the paint’s consistency and finish, opening a world of creative possibilities.
*This class is designed to be a fun and low-pressure environment where you can express your creativity, find your unique artistic voice, and build a strong foundation in painting. By the end of the course, you will have a collection of your own finished paintings and the confidence to continue your artistic journey. Materials/Art Supplies Required: 12”x12” stretched canvas, Basic Sets of acrylic paints and bristle brushes, 2 plastic plates as palettes, 2-pint water Solo cups.
