Mixed Media Painting:

A Creative Journey in Layered Narratives

Peter DamaBFA, MFA             Ages 18+

This course focuses on Acrylic Painting as the primary paint medium, combined with various drawing, collage, and textural elements.  Course Goal: To equip students with the technical skills and conceptual approaches necessary to confidently combine various media (paint, drawing, collage, texture) to create cohesive and expressive mixed media paintings. Unleash the full expressive power of painting by learning to combine and layer diverse materials. This intensive eight-week studio course moves beyond single mediums to embrace mixed media techniques, allowing you to build rich, complex surfaces that tell a story. Using acrylic painting as our foundation, you’ll explore how to integrate collage, drawing, and texture to create works with profound depth and visual interest. We start by mastering surface preparation and foundational layering, then dive into specific techniques that will broaden your artistic vocabulary. By the end of this course, you’ll have developed your own signature approach to combining materials, culminating in a final, self-directed painting that showcases your unique creative voice.

What You Will Learn:

Surface & Collage: Prepare and texturize supports using gesso, matte medium, and various papers. Layering Techniques
